Domino - distribuzione SELF - 5 ottobre 2018

Tracce come “Black (Le grande faucheuse – Angel of Death)” e “Me Voy” hanno quel qualcosa che richiama il tormento già espresso in “Moon Pix” o “You Are Free”, mentre l’eleganza di “In Your Face” e il blues minimalista di “You Get” (‘You Know there’s nothing like time, to teach you where you have been’, canta Chan alla fine) hanno lo stesso timbro leggero e spensierato di “The Greatest”.

“The doctor said I was not my past, he said I was finally free,” canta Chan, “I’m a woman of my word, or haven’t you heard? My word’s the only thing I’ve ever needed.”

“You’re on the horizon / I’m on my way / You’re on the horizon / I’m headed the other way”.

LYRICS:

  1. WANDERER

Oh wanderer

I been wondering

If your brown eyes still have color,

Could I see

That night

That night

With those hands, those hands

That night, that night

Oh galleon ring

With heart, wild heart,

You would sing to me

Wasn’t I the lady from the other town

Twist of fate would have me sing at your wedding

With a baby on my mind and your soul in between

Wild heart, young man, goddamn

I never wanted to keep

For your gold is ages old before the end of your story

Give my hand to jesus when it went away with you

Oh wanderer, I’ve been wondering

  1. IN YOUR FACE

You never need, you’re American

You never take what you say seriously

You’re on the bed, on the ledge of things

You’ve got it made and when you wake,

Its all in vain.

You never said you’d do anything.

You made excuses for your main objective, go and collect it.

Don’t you dare forget it

Don’t you forget it.

Don’t you forget

Don’t do it

In the age of military, you are engaged

With such fanfare activity

You let them do things as they please

In a grave, you’re accounted for

If you were red, you’d be spoken for

Your color blue is grey

In the arms of the one you love

You feel safe, you feel so above

The hunger on the streets

With your safe and your document in it’s place

Your money your gun

Your conscience sweet like honey

You forbade yourself to think

See where you are

As you begin to sink

In your mirror

In your mirror

In your mirror

In your face

  1. YOU GET

You take, take, and you will get, get, get what you will get

You will make, make, make and you’ll pretend what you forget

You never take time

You never take mine

But if you don’t

you will beget-ing , you’ll beget-ing again

And what you wont, you wont be,

On time

You cross the street, you got the feelin on me

You never listen to the reason, you just yell em to me

You never listen to time, you never build up the times

You never listen

You will get, you get, you get what you get

You never listen

You will get, you get, you get what you get

You never listen.

The only time

And on the street they’re all talkin bout the things you should listen

And on the news they’re always excusing

And when you tell your friends what you think you have heard

You know there’s nothing like time, to teach you where you have been

And there is nothing like time, to give you things you can need

But when you listen to the rhythm of the movements, that’s right

And you’ve been telling me, you always tell me you’re right

Its not nothing I know, it’s just something outside

You always listen your way, but you will take time

To get what you want

And you will tell me its time I am on

And you will live in this world, and you’ll get what you get

But when you tell me there’s another time

I wont remember what you’re telling me, it’s time

I won’t forget, I won’t forget it, it’s time

You’ll get it all on yourself

You will beget-ing again

On time, you will get what you get

You will take time and

You’ll get what you get

  1. WOMAN (FEAT. LANA DEL REY)

If I had a dime for every time

You tell me I’m not what you need

If I had a quarter I would pull it together

And I would take it to the bank and then leave

If you know people who know me,

you might want them to speak

To tell you bout the girl or the woman you know

More than you think you know about me

I see you walkin in circles

I see you talkin in circles

I see your thoughts running in circles, I walk around all day long following thee

The doctor said I was better than ever,

man you shoulda seen me

The doctor said I was not my past, he said I was finally free

Taking the jump, I took the leap

I needed you to believe

I’m a woman of my word

Or haven’t you heard

My word’s the only thing I’ve ever needed

I’m a woman of my word

Now you have heard my word’s the only thing I truly need

Your money’s like a weapon a tool to get me, you think I’m like the other ones

Well my money is my weapon,

a tool for me,

no I am not like those other ones

Your cage is like a weapon,

a tool to get me, shaped and fit for the other ones

Well my cage is a weapon, it’s perfect for me

It’s the one suit you seem to never see

I’m a woman

  1. HORIZON

Mother, I know your face

Father, I still hold your place

Sister, I’m around, do you remember me

Brother, I’m on my way, I’m visiting

Little sister, I know from where your brown eyes came

Your face on horizon, I cannot see

Your face on horizon, I cannot say

Mother, I wanna hold your hand

Father, I need you to be a man

Sister, if there’s any help you need, I’m always on my way

Little brother, let’s get up to trouble, let’s get up to something

Little sister, can I have this dance

You’re on the horizon

I cannot stay

You’re on the horizon

I’m on my way

You’re on the horizon

I’m headed the other way

  1. STAY

Not really sure how to feel about it

Something in the way you move

Makes me feel like I cant live without you

It takes me all the way

I want you stay

Round and around and around we go

Oh now tell me now, tell me now, tell me now you know

The reason I hold on

Cuz I need this hole gone

Funny you’re the broken one

But I’m the only one who needed saving

When you finally see the light,

Its hard to know which one of us is caving

  1. BLACK

Lemme tell you a story about Black

The one memory and the one who threw it right back

He was down, so I took a ride

He moved the best way outta there so I took his advice

Oh, two seconds flat

If I’d have known he woulda treated me like that

Oh, two seconds flat

How was I to know he woulda done me like that

He had an empty gaze and his eyes like a bed

He took me thoroughly

I threw the coat away and just like a fox he said

Oh, who’s lookin at ya

Who was a good kid when God was lookin after ya

Whoa who’ll make it through

How was I to know he woulda done this to you

He made his move then I was down on loan

I kept askin to come up for luck

I would take it and he would turn it in

Wait, lemme catch my breath, that’s Black,

If you can catch him with it

I was someone who believed in sin he said,

I think I know just who that is

Whoa, who’s lookin at ya

Who was a good kid when God was lookin after ya

Whoa who’ll make it through

How was I to know he woulda done this to you

A dead man now, once was a friend

Ran all the way upstairs just to make my defense-saved me

Threw me in the bath, with the ice and a slap

Can of coke down my throat, almost his whole hand fittin in-I was dying

First I was amused, close to death ever been

But when the white light went away I knew Death was setting in

If I knew I would tell ya

To keep trouble off I’d tell ya

If you’re the next one to get, left with this story

That’s when you go mad, that’s Black

Oh, who’s now lookin at cha

Who’ll be a good kid now that I am lookin after ya

Oh who’ll make it through

How was I to know Black woulda turned from me to you.

  1. ROBBIN HOOD

When I walk on the right side, carry my glove, no knife in sight

Who robbing, who robbing who

When I walk on the left side, don’t be caught after eight you know why

Who robbing, who robbing who

Little lady on the street, curb side, little bitty baby in her arms so tight

Who robbing, who robbing who

Big fat cat, biggest piece of the pie, high top hat, leaves no disguise

Who robbing, he robbing you.

Gun to your head, they want your soul or your money

Robbing my mind with all their gluttony

Who robbing, who robbing who

When I walk on every side got to cover my head to my ankle or die

Who robbing?

Who robbing who.

  1. NOTHING REALLY MATTERS

When you see a face in the crowd with a look of obsession

There’s no subtle way to say there’s plenty of defense and discretion

Living with what’s left, all the gifts, but outside

It’s like nothing really matters

How can other people’s ways be an estimate of your way of life

Cant the words and birds and trees and Earth, be the same thing

And be just as right

It’s hard, ALERT-TEST

It’s so hard, ALERT-TEST

It’s like nothing really matters

It’s like nothing really matters

It’s like nothing really matters to them

If you could turn it around

If you could see it a different way

If you could turn it on it’s knee and bend it down

It wouldn’t really matter

But outside, ALERT-TEST

ALERT-TEST

  1. ME VOY

I am leaving

Me voy, me voy

Good as gone

I am going

Me voy, me voy

Good, good as gone

Look no more

Look no more

Wish you could stay tomorrow

Wish you would stay

Don’t go tomorrow

Don’t go anyway
